Melanie Garcia
Photograph the beautiful light-trails of cars and other vehicles in motion, against the panorama of static architecture at night. for this class you will need a tripod and a zoom or wide-angle lens is preferable but you can still get good results with a normal prime or really any lens. It is the exposure and composition that is the important part. Hi-viz clothing and reflective jackets /clothing is advisable.

Wrong time of year for birds in SW Florida. I did enjoy the nature outing and discussing camera settings with Melanie.

Title or Location: Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon Lower Falls
This past August I spent a week visiting Yellowstone National Park. This photo was taken of the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone Grand Canyon from an observation point called "Artist Point". Each morning there is about a 15-to-20-minute window starting around 9:45 AM, on a sunny morning to catch a rainbow at the base of the falls as the sun rises above the canyon walls. This i s very popular and crowded location. We were on a photo tour and arrived just before the rainbow appeared. This day it

Title or Location: Six Mile Cypress Slough
I love the peace and tranquility of Six Mile Cypress Slough in Fort Myers. I also am a fan of Henry David Thoreau and John Muir. These expressive quotes that are on the boardwalk fit so perfectly with the surroundings. There is always something to see and always something to hear if you pay attention.

I was there to get some shots of the sun going down behind the Sanibel Causeway Bridge. We, my wife and I, were talking to a friend there after the sun was down and all of a sudden these striking, almost fluorescent pink stripes appeared against the dark blue sky. And it only lasted a few minutes and then disappeared.

Title or Location: American Kestrel at the Canadian Raptor Conservancy
First off, I have to say that I am not a "Birder". But I love challenging my photographic skills and abilities. The American Kestrel is not a big bird, and it is fast. So even when you know its takeoff is imminent, it is still hard to get a nice clear photo of the bird. This particular image was shot with a Canon R6 camera, with the RF100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM lens at 1/5000 sec, f/7.1 and ISO 4000. I used the animal eye-tracking feature of this mirrorless full frame camera, and was very plea

Title or Location: Horseshow Bend in Page, AZ
I had shot the sunrise at Horseshoe Bend the same morning and was hoping for a blazing sunset at this location after talking to the other photographers present at sunrise. Even with some clouds, we were not so fortunate and when the sunlight was casting on the water I switched to black and white mentality and was able to capture this photo. You can just see the setting sun in the upper right corner for the photo.

Title or Location: Nene Valley Railway - Wansford
I was on a leisurely family walk going towards Nene Valley Railway in Wansford when serendipity struck, and I found myself in the perfect spot to capture a captivating moment. The sight of a steam train preparing to depart from the station sparked a rush of excitement and nostalgia. The timeless allure of steam trains and the bustling atmosphere of the railway added a touch of history and charm to my photography experience.

It was a cloudy day and my cat was up in the tree. he had always had very deep blue, but with all the defused light from the clouds and the contrast from the tree bark, It sent me running for my camera.I shot it on a Nikon D5600, with a 70 - 200mm lens, on January 25, 2024.I shot it raw while in manual mode, the aperture was 4.1, the iso 100, and the shutter speed was 1 over 700.

This one took a bit of planning to catch the Milky Way in the place I wanted, the Weather, Moon, and Milky Way core all had to be right and as you might guess it took a few seasons for it to come together, every time it was a walk in the dark over the sand dunes from Pennard to get to the right spot on the cliff edge, I'm a little picky when it comes to star trails and although there are certain formulas for shutter speed to "visibly" limit star trails I'd rather have none, so I dragged my Star
