Rule of Thirds

Rule of Thirds

Saturday 14 October
Luminary Hotel - 8am - 2 Hours
One of the most basic tenets of composition is the Rule of Thirds. Although most people are familiar with this technique it is often forgotten in the haste to take a photo. However you ignore it at your peril as it can make an average snap into something which is has tension and dynamism. In this meetup we will practice using the Rule of Thirds in a setting full of photographic possibility.

Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Cape Coral .

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Cape Coral Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

I was there to get some shots of the sun going down behind the Sanibel Causeway Bridge. We, my wife and I, were talking to a friend there after the sun was down and all of a sudden these striking, almost fluorescent pink stripes appeared against the dark blue sky. And it only lasted a few minutes and then disappeared.

I took my son to see an old friend because he wanted to play with wire wool and try and get some "cool" pictures. We also took some led masks with us too. Was an eventful night and I'm sure somewhere along the line will see the rest of the results here

I wanted this shot because the water was pretty still and gave a good reflection. I was shot with a Nikon Coolpix P1000 at f/5.6 at 1/500th of a second with the zoom at 216mm.

it was a very beautiful afternoon and I decided to go for a walk with my 16-year-old son, of course with my camera, I invited him to go through a small pine forest in search of some image to take and we found a nest of these cute owls, in that moment there was a very warm lighting, and the owl gave us his best pose

I live near the water. As I worked in my garden, this eagle landed near the water's edge. It stayed long enough for me to grab my good old Cannon Rebel and I was able to capture several images with my 200mm lens. The bird seemed to have no fear of me. I moved slowly peacefully towards it and I ended up about 25' away. I did not want to scare it, so I only captured a few images. When I had finished, the bird remained here for quite some time. It was an amazing experience. I did crop the image to
